Registered Nurse, Ambulatory Surgery Center, Operating Room
About the Role
Responsible for directing patient care during surgical procedures according to the AORN standards of care, specifically during the intraoperative phase of surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under an approved protocol.
- Evaluate outcomes and adjust nursing care processes as needed to ensure optimal patient care.
- Assess patient information; develop plan of care to meet need of patient.
- Prepare and test equipment in advance of specific surgical procedures.
- Administer patient support and/or teaching prior to anesthesia induction.
- Monitor the surgical needs of the patient and participate as a team member to achieve outcomes.
- Document all significant information reflecting patient care plan.
- Maintain aseptic techniques and report deviations from standards and nursing practices.
- Communicate with physicians and other departments to consult on patient status and to ensure continuity of care.
- Prepare for continuing care of patient following discharge.
- Assume responsibility for own professional development, setting goals and striving to achieve them through available resources, such as attending seminars, inservices and/or reading journals.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Minimum of three years job-related experience or equivalent.
- RI State Licensure.
- BLS certification.
