Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold a high standard of courtesy and cooperation with co-workers, patients, and visitors.

- Carry out nursing interventions safely and accurately using knowledge, judgment, and skill to implement physicians’ orders and the nursing plan of care.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills.
- Work independently with limited direct supervision using policies, nursing standards, and professional judgment.
- Prioritize workloads in coordination with team members and the OR Nurse Manager.
- Administer medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly.
- Coordinate patient schedules.
- Assume job responsibilities of team members during absences.
- Arrange for needed supplies and equipment.
- Create a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction for team members.
- Perform documentation in the nursing unit and patient records accurately, concisely, and in a timely manner.
- Support and enforce infection control policies and procedures.
- Initiate and maintain IV and Venous Access Ports (VAP) according to hospital policies; assist with lab draws as needed.
- Operate IV pumps, apply and maintain Wound Vac Pumps, and perform dressing changes.
- Assist with minor procedures in the procedure room with providers; assist in surgery with admission and discharge when needed.
- Operate all equipment and perform all procedures in the nursing department.
- Demonstrate knowledge, abilities, and skills required for a wide variety of nursing functions.
- Compute drug dosages accurately using mathematical ability.
- Complete unit-specific competencies as scheduled (minimum annually).
- Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned based on hospital needs.
Requirements
- Valid NYS Nursing License.
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
- Outstanding organizational ability.
- Excellent communication skills and a great team player.
- Even-tempered with emotional and physical stamina.
- Experience in Cardiac Procedures.
- At least one year of Ambulatory Surgery experience preferred.
- Preferred experience with high-acuity orthopedic procedures, Endoscopy procedures, Transfusions, and dressing changes.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
