About the role
This registered nurse position provides pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing orthopedic, cataract, general, gynecological, ENT, and endoscopic surgeries, including PACU responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for surgical patients.
- Communicating effectively with patients, families, and team members, adhering to universal protocols.
- Involving patients in care planning, education, and discharge processes while utilizing available resources.
- Monitoring patient responses, documenting care, and making clinical decisions, escalating when necessary.
- Administering medications and treatments per hospital policies, ensuring safety and evidence-based practices.
- Providing timely updates to physicians regarding patient conditions and maintaining a safe environment.
- Performing post-op follow-up calls and contributing to all areas of surgical services as needed.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years RN experience required.
- Current BLS certification and valid RN license in applicable states (Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Wisconsin).
- Strong communication skills, clinical judgment, and ability to work in a fast-paced, alert environment.
Requirements
- Physical Requirements: Constant speech, standing, walking, frequent lifting (0-25 lbs), sitting, reaching, vision, hearing, and occasional heavier lifting, patient handling, bending, and driving.
Schedule
Day shift, 32 hours weekly, employee status, with flexibility in start times and call responsibilities.
