About the Role

Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. Implements and monitors patient care plans, coordinates disciplines for well-coordinated patient care, and carries out physician and nursing orders. Assesses and coordinates patient discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.

Manages in-basket, triage, patient education, FMLA forms, and assists with quality measures. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide, delegate, supervise, and document care and teaching of patients and family. Demonstrates clinical competence and effective communication with the healthcare team.

May require a professional certification that is a regulatory requirement in the State of Michigan or a documented community standard for the position. Works independently and in collaboration with the principal investigator when appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Provide leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care.
  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to provide, delegate, supervise, and document care and teaching of patients and family.
  • Manage in-basket, triage, patient education, FMLA forms, and assist with quality measures.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Successful completion of Henry Ford Ambulatory orientation.
  • Fetal Non-stress Testing experience required.
  • Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
  • 1 year as an RN in women’s health (birthing center, OB, etc.).
  • Current BLS or ACLS per Henry Ford Health policy.
  • Maintains and demonstrates current clinical knowledge in area of specialty.
  • Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills.
  • Certification will be required when it is a regulatory requirement in the State of Michigan or a documented community standard (e.g., Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN)).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the specialty (Obstetrics/Gynecology).
  • EPIC and/or Athena experience.

Schedule

  • Days, 8-hour shifts.
  • Shift start varies between 7:45 AM – 8:30 AM; shift end varies between 3:45 PM – 5:30 PM.
  • No weekends or holidays.

Detroit Moross campus (St. John Hospital Medical Pavilion One). Cross-training to other offices/departments within Women's Health services at the same campus (e.g., OB/GYN, resident clinics).
