Registered Nurse – AHH PACU (PRN)

About the Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) - Critical is responsible for performing assessments, developing and implementing a plan of care, and evaluating patient outcomes. This role administers medications and treatments as ordered by physicians, directs and monitors care provided by non-licensed personnel, and leads the interdisciplinary care team for patients with primarily cardiovascular disease. The RN-Critical also performs technical services, including patient specimen testing, quality control, and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Completes admission assessments and periodic reassessments based on patient progress and unit protocols.
• Documents findings and communicates pertinent information to interdisciplinary team members.
• Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to develop, evaluate, and revise the plan of care to meet patient needs and goals.
• Provides direct care, ensuring a safe and comforting environment for high patient satisfaction.
• Assists healthcare team members in understanding hospital policies and procedures.
• Educates patients, families, and significant others, incorporating population-specific criteria and readiness to learn.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to standard precautions.
• Administers medications and completes treatments according to hospital policy and population-specific parameters.
• Facilitates discharge planning in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrates knowledge and ability to use necessary patient care equipment.
• Coordinates the interdisciplinary team’s response to emergency situations.
• Performs Point-of-Care procedures in a timely manner, adhering to established policies and quality control standards.
• Formulates and revises individualized care plans based on patient response to treatment.
• Evaluates care plans regularly for effectiveness.
• Communicates clearly with Resource Nurse, Director, and Physician.
• Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring, identifies dysrhythmias, and treats appropriately based on protocol.
• Performs head-to-toe assessments on all patients per policy.
• Monitors hemodynamic status and correctly interprets results.
• Consults other departments to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.
• Coordinates and supervises patient care as necessary.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Registered Nurse with current state licensure or licensure from a state within the Nursing Compact.
• BLS certification required within 30 days of employment and prior to providing direct patient care.
• ACLS certification required by completion of clinical orientation.
• PALS or ENPC certification required for Emergency Department RNs within one year of employment.
• RCIS required for Cath/EP Lab RNs within six months of eligibility.
• Limited Specialty License required within two months of acquiring RCIS (excluding PRN employees).
