Registered Nurse After-Hours Hospice (RN)

About the role

After‑Hours Hospice RNs provide compassionate, patient‑centered care during on‑call hours from Friday 5 p.m. to Monday 8 a.m. They serve as the voice and advocate for patients and families, coordinating with the hospice care team and ensuring every patient receives the quality care they deserve. RNs are fully supported by a 24/7 RN‑staffed Triage Department and have access to supportive leadership, professional development, and advancement opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Act as a patient advocate, ensuring each patient receives high‑quality, compassionate care.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the hospice care team to coordinate the plan of care.
• Provide on‑call coverage after hours (Friday 5 p.m. – Monday 8 a.m.) and respond to patient needs.
• Collaborate with the 24/7 RN‑staffed Triage Department and local hospice team for clinical support.
• Maintain professional documentation and follow hospice policies and procedures.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and leadership opportunities.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current state RN license.
• At least 2 years of nursing experience in a clinical care setting (hospice experience preferred).
• A genuine heart to serve patients and families and a passion for delivering the best possible care.
• Reliable transportation.
• Physical ability to sit, stand, bend, move intermittently, and lift 80–100 lb safely.
