Registered Nurse - Acute Care MedSurg Oncology - Charge Nurse - Full Time Nights

About the role

The RN Clinical Charge Nurse oversees daily unit operations, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. They direct staff, make patient assignments, and coordinate resources, including staffing and equipment, to optimize care delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead interdisciplinary team collaboration, supervise clinical practices, and promote evidence-based standards.
• Conduct rounds to evaluate patient care quality and safety, addressing issues proactively.
• Manage patient flow, bed assignments, and discharge planning while supporting unit operations and efficiency.
• Serve as a resource for staff development, mentorship, and fostering a positive work environment.
• Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, and accreditation standards, including safety protocols.
• Participate in performance improvement, research, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
• Handle emergency situations and support staff during staffing surges or shortages.

Qualifications & Skills

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Active nursing license (multi-state or single-state).
• Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year nursing experience; 2+ years preferred, including leadership or relief charge roles.
• Strong clinical expertise, communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
