The Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs is seeking a motivated, dynamic individual to join our team at Douglas T. Jacobson State Veterans' Nursing Home in Port Charlotte, Florida. This skilled nursing facility offers a loyal team of long-term employees and a fantastic work culture.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality professional care to veteran residents to ensure their health, safety, and security.
- Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of the resident population.
- Administer medications and treatments according to medical orders.
- Monitor and provide interventions to meet the needs of the residents.
- Document clinical information accurately and comprehensively.
- Communicate effectively with patients and other healthcare professionals.
- Lead team conferences to develop individualized nursing care plans.
- Assign nursing care to team members based on patient needs and staffing availability.
- Coordinate other duties as necessary.
- Assist with patient orientation and care coordination.
- Report pertinent observations and reactions to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
Requirements
- Valid license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Florida.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification.
- Ability to work weekends and holidays.
- Effective communication skills in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Completion of a thorough background check and drug test.
Pay & Benefits
- Annual salary: $67,742.74.
- Paid bi-weekly.
- Overtime eligible; eligible for shift differential.

Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications include a valid RN license and BLS certification.
- Preferred qualifications include one year of experience in long-term care environments, experience with medication administration, and knowledge of electronic medical records and Matrix Care.
