About the role
The position is a licensed professional responsible for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The role utilizes the nursing process as the basis for clinical practice in any patient care area.
Responsibilities
- Affirms patient safety and quality care through the nursing process.
- Makes staff assignments based on patient acuity, continuity of care, and staff competency.
- Mentors staff, float, and agency personnel regarding unit/hospital policies, procedures, and annual goals.
- Fulfills leadership roles, acting as a clinical resource to unit staff.
- Maintains awareness of Joint Commission standards, state codes, and practice acts.
- Maintains fiscal responsibility by monitoring and adjusting staffing during shifts and determining staffing needs for the following shift.
- Maintains competencies for direct patient care and team leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Washington.
- Successful completion of a graduate nurse residency program orientation or six months' experience as a Registered Nurse.
- AHA BLS for healthcare providers required.
