Registered Nurse 2 WOW- NEUROLOGY (DAYS)

About the Role

This Weekender position requires working every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with increased hourly pay for the WOW (Weekend Option for Wellness) role. The role involves coordinating and delivering patient care using the health care team philosophy practice model, patient teaching, discharge planning, and collaboration with ancillary departments while maintaining departmental and hospital standards.

Essential Functions

• Plans, organizes, and directs nursing functions to provide the best possible patient care.
• Initiates and implements patient care plans.
• Makes nursing assignments appropriate to staff skill levels.
• Maintains acceptable standards of patient care and identifies/solves problems.
• Creates a working climate that fosters growth and job satisfaction.
• Accurately and promptly implements physicians' orders.
• Administers medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly.
• Maintains accurate and complete recording and reporting.

• Enforces infection-control policies and procedures.
• Remains resourceful and calm in emergencies.
• Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel.

Functional Demands

• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting while on duty.
• Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
• Transferring and repositioning patients.
• Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching for patient care functions.
• Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential for performing duties.
• Ability to perform effectively in stressful and fast-paced environments.
• May be subjected to unpleasant sights, odors, hazardous agents, and infectious disease processes.
• Climate control and ambient temperature variances may occur.
• Exposure to hazardous chemicals/substances and infectious diseases is possible.
• Hours may be irregular or extended due to emergencies.
• Direct contact with blood or other body fluids requiring universal precautions; personal protective equipment provided.

Qualifications

• Experience: One year of experience as an RN required.
• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Skills:
  • Ability to recognize patients' individual needs based on medical conditions, age (adolescents to geriatric), limitations, and planned procedures.
  • Good judgment in delivering patient care.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to function in stressful situations.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Willingness to rotate shifts, days off, and work areas; occasional overtime may be required.
• Licensure: Current Mississippi State license as an RN.
