Registered Nurse 2 On Call - CBCC

Clallam Bay Corrections Center (CBCC) in Clallam Bay, WA, has an operating capacity of 858 male individuals and is located on the Olympic Peninsula, 50 miles west of Port Angeles with views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Vancouver Island. Limited vanpool incentives are available for eligible employees commuting to CBCC or the Olympic Corrections Center.

About the role

On-call/intermittent staff are expected to:

• Be available to work all shifts (day, swing, and graveyard), including weekends and holidays as requested.
• Provide written availability by the 10th of each month for the following month's coverage.
• Be willing to complete a paid six-week correctional worker core training (not required to qualify).
• Work a minimum of 10 shifts per month to qualify for benefits upon hire.

Registered Nurses will receive a shift differential of $2.50 per hour for evening and night shifts. Additional shift premiums include:

• $1.00 per hour for hours worked between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.
• $3.00 per hour for hours worked from Friday midnight to Sunday midnight.

Responsibilities

• Deliver services promoting health, healing, and coping with health conditions.
• Screen, assess, and evaluate incarcerated individuals and their conditions.
• Respond to health care requests in a timely, clinically appropriate, and therapeutic manner.
• Delegate, supervise, monitor, manage, coordinate, and deliver health care.
• Plan transitions, make referrals, and arrange follow-up for patients transferring or returning to the community.
• Assist patients in improving self-care skills for themselves and their families.
• Provide counseling, consulting, teaching, and health information to improve service quality and enhance safety and security.

Requirements

• Active and unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in Washington State. If holding a multi-state/compact license from another state, you must change your primary state of residence to WA and apply for a WA State Multi-State license within 60 days of employment.
• OR an unencumbered Multi-State License from a participating Compact Licensure State, with completion of Suicide Prevention, EDIR training, and MLS demographic survey.
• One year of experience working as a Registered Nurse.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, climb stairs, walk long distances, and frequently lift up to 30 pounds (rarely up to 50 pounds and push up to 100 pounds).
• Completion of a respirator medical evaluation questionnaire, fit testing, training, and use of respiratory protection as required by WA Industrial Safety & Health Act standards (WAC 296-842).
• Foreign equivalent degrees must include a credential evaluation report from www.wes.org or www.aice-eval.org.
