About the Role

Provides professional nursing care under broad supervision, focusing on the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations in accordance with nurse protocols, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care in accordance with established nurse protocols, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct comprehensive physical assessments for all ages and clinical programs.
• Participate in drills and exercises on pandemic influenza, mass sheltering, and mass dispensing.
• Prepare to respond to public health emergencies and respond as directed.
• Utilize Electronic Medical Record to document patient care and enter billing information for reimbursement.
• Administer and dispense medications and vaccines based on nursing assessment according to established nurse protocols.
• Provide health education to individuals, families, and community partners.
• Incorporate strategies for interacting with persons from diverse backgrounds (e.g., cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, gender, age, ethnic, sexual orientation, professional, religious affiliation, mental and physical capabilities).
• Perform job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Serve as a mentor for new nurses and/or preceptor for nursing students.
• Manage specific program activities and/or evaluations.
• Assist with completing monthly/quarterly reports.
• May supervise support staff or employees.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications for each level are as follows:

• PH Registered Nurse 1:
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of a PHN course within one year of hire.
  • Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license.
  • CPR certification.
  • Target hire-in salary: $59,143.37.
• PH Registered Nurse 2:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university OR Associate’s degree in Nursing with one year of nursing experience.
  • Completion of a PHN course within one year of hire (if Associate’s degree).
  • Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license.
  • CPR certification.
  • Target hire-in salary: $66,351.55.
• PH Registered Nurse 3:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with one year of nursing experience OR Associate’s degree in Nursing with two years of nursing experience.
  • Completion of a PHN course within one year of hire (if Associate’s degree).
  • Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license.
  • CPR certification.
  • Target hire-in salary: $73,677.24.

Salary offered will be based on education, experience, and health district budget.

Preferred Qualifications

• Public health experience.
• Experience with screenings, immunizations, GRITS, and interviewing patients.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English).
• Knowledge of state leave policies.
• Knowledge of recruitment processes.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
