Responsibilities

- Perform routine and complex EEG examinations in the laboratory, at the patients bedside, Intensive Care Units and operating room. - Select predetermined electrode combinations and observe patient with video recording equipment. - Ensure EEG and tape are lined up exactly. - Check focus, lighting and microphone. - Abstract relevant information from the patients clinical record and obtain additional information. - Perform electroencephalographic examinations on patients. - Schedule and organize special procedure tests, angiography, X-ray studies, etc. - Serve as an instructor for new personnel. - Provide training in the interpretation of EEG recordings, applications and the academics of EEG technology. - Maintain equipment in clean operating condition and perform proper maintenance.

Requirements

- Completion of an accredited EEG program OR an Associate's Degree in Electroneurodiagnostics or related patient care field. - Registered EEG Technician (R.EEG.T). - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross. - One year experience as an EEG Technician.

Preferred qualifications

- Prior experience in a hospital setting.

Physical Requirements

- Manual dexterity in order to place electrodes precisely and to operate recording equipment. - Ability to push and maneuver EEG machine weighing 320 pounds and Evoked Potential machine weighing 420 pounds. - Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range. - Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.
