About the Role

Under limited supervision, this position provides therapeutic nutrition services for clients with high-risk and/or complex nutrition-related medical conditions. The role involves developing nutrition care plans, approving special and metabolic formulas, and participating in quality assurance processes for nutrition services.

Responsibilities

• Assess and diagnose the nutritional status of clients with high-risk and/or complex nutrition-related medical conditions referred from Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), Maternal Child Health (MCH) programs, and other healthcare providers.
• Develop and implement nutrition interventions, including counseling, follow-up, referral, and coordination of care with other healthcare providers.
• Provide and document care utilizing the Nutrition Care Process and according to program policy.
• Approve, document, distribute, and track special and metabolic formulas per program policy and procedures.
• Order special and metabolic formulas for drop shipment to clinics.
• Provide consultation and technical assistance related to special formulas to staff and healthcare providers.
• Enter, update, and issue food benefits for high-risk clients and clients receiving special formulas.
• Provide professional expertise, consultation, and technical assistance to healthcare team members, providers, community organizations, staff, and the public.
• Participate in the orientation and training of nutrition staff as requested.
• Serve as a preceptor for dietetic interns completing supervised professional practice experiences in the region.
• Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of WIC/MCH nutrition services.
• Assist with quality assurance processes for WIC program nutrition services, including RD high-risk documentation, WIC certifications, nutrition education, and special formulas.
• Update professional skills and knowledge to ensure delivery of quality nutrition services.
• Participate in continuing education opportunities and maintain advanced certification(s) required for the position.
• Participate in Disaster Preparedness and Response as indicated and maintain adequate training for this role.
• Perform other duties as assigned related to the position.

Requirements

• A master’s degree and registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a Registered Dietitian or registration eligible, or a bachelor’s degree with professional clinical or public health experience and registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a Registered Dietitian.
• Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

• If the position requires operating a state or personal vehicle, a certified copy of a 10-year driving record may be required in the final stages of selection.
• All new employees who are healthcare providers must provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Pertussis, Varicella, and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.

The option to work partially remote or adjusted work hours may be available after 12 months of employment for approved positions.
