About the role

The College of Dentistry at Texas A&M University Health Science Center in Dallas is seeking a Registered Dental Assistant (Level I-III) to support the department of Oral Surgery. The ideal candidate should have expertise in a fast-paced environment, enjoy working in a high-volume setting, and possess strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares the patient and treatment room for specific types of appointments.
  • Answers student and patient inquiries about clinical policies and dental procedures.
  • Provides direct chairside assistance to graduate students during examinations and treatments.
  • Performs four-handed dentistry procedures, managing suction and retraction needs.
  • Disinfects and sterilizes the operatory, instruments, and equipment according to OSHA and local policies.
  • Operates dental radiography equipment to take intraoral radiographs.
  • Aids in obtaining pre- and post-insertion photographic records, including retraction and mirror positioning.
  • Mixes and assists in the use of various materials, following manufacturer guidelines or dentist instructions.

Requirements

  • Dental Assistant I: High school diploma or equivalent, starting at $17.78/hour.
  • Dental Assistant II: High school diploma or equivalent, 2 years of experience, starting at $19.56/hour.
  • Dental Assistant III: High school diploma or equivalent, 4 years of experience, starting at $21.51/hour.
  • CPR certified.
  • Registered Dental Assistant license.
  • Experience with IV sedation and previous Oral Surgery experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience as a registered dental assistant in a private practice, clinic, or dental training program for Dental Assistant II.
  • 4+ years of experience as a registered dental assistant in a private practice, clinic, or dental training program for Dental Assistant III.
  • Experience with dental implant procedures.

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with the selected hire's experience.

Schedule

This is an on-site role located in Dallas, TX, with a typical schedule of Monday – Friday from 8am to 5pm.
