About the Role
Montefiore Medical Center's Division of Clinical Pathology is responsible for the laboratory testing of blood, urine, and body fluids for disease diagnosis and health maintenance. Utilizing the latest advances in computer technology, the Division maintains millions of dollars of state-of-the-art automated equipment at its laboratory sites and services hospitals, nursing homes, the Montefiore Medical Group, faculty practices, and voluntary physicians' offices at more than 40 sites.
This position is located in the Cytopathology lab at the Moses campus. The scheduled hours are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with alternate weekends.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of duties of a cytotechnologist, such as screening and marking a broad variety of diagnostic material for research purposes.
- Perform sophisticated analysis of data and assist in the performance of complex computer systems in the research laboratory.
- Create CD-ROM based analysis systems.
- Understand principles of operation and teach Cytotechnologists.
- Organize research analysis and maintain records, ensuring correct review, analysis, and record retention required for grant and company support.
- Perform statistical analysis and correlation data studies, analyze statistics, and prepare data for publication.
- Maintain computer hardware and software needed to develop projects, keeping systems functional.
Qualifications
- New York State Department of Education Cytotechnologist license required.
- Training in cytotechnology approved by the American Society of Clinical Pathology required.
- BA or BS degree in medical technology or life sciences required; Master's degree preferred.
- Proficiency in CD-ROM based analysis systems.
- Knowledge of computer skills.

- Scheduled Daily Hours: 7.5 hours
Pay
Hourly Rate: $68.84. For positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education, or other relevant factors.
