Registered Behavior Technician - Ocean Avenue LEARNing Academy

General Scope of Responsibilities

  • Prepare instructional setting and materials for student programs.
  • Serve as a supervisor and assistant to students in various settings as outlined in their educational plans.
  • Implement strategies from the overall curriculum plan, based on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), related to inclusion and individual work in school settings.
  • Collect and monitor data, interpret this data in collaboration with LEARN staff, and modify the program as necessary for each child.
  • Collaborate on all aspects of the student’s program with inclusion setting and LEARN staff when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records, including data collection and session notes.
  • Demonstrate and model program interventions to inclusion setting staff and assist in their training as needed.
  • Receive feedback and training on ABA job performance from the lead BCBA or BCaBA.
  • Establish a supportive yet authoritative relationship with the student(s).
  • Absorb and assist with student toileting, feeding, and other health responsibilities.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. when necessary.
  • Utilize Program Change procedures, including communication with teachers and BCBA about special student information (as needed).
  • Implement behavior change programs across all areas of student need, including educational and behavioral programs.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality regarding students and staff.
  • Adhere to the BACB's RBT Ethics Code.
  • Be punctual and consistent in meeting daily time schedules throughout the school year.
  • Work effectively and cooperatively with other staff members and families.
  • Participate in professional development activities and demonstrate competencies related to training.
  • Attend team and staff meetings as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Behavior Coordinator and Student Support Services Administration.

Requirements

  • RBT certification.
  • Current BACB Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.
  • Ability to maintain ongoing RBT certification in compliance with BACB Certification Maintenance Requirements.

Qualifications

  • Education: RBT plus one of the following: Paraprofessional certification, Associate's degree + Paraprofessional certification, Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience: Preferred experience working with children with autism or emotional/behavioral challenges, as well as their families. Experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs is preferred.
