About the role

Evaluate and provide training to residents in daily living and social skills to help them achieve and maintain their maximum level of functioning and independent community living.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and provide training in daily living skills including personal hygiene and grooming, housekeeping, laundry and clothing care, meal planning and preparation, money management and budgeting, socialization, and recreation leisure activities.
  • Implement group and individual programs promoting growth and development towards independent living skills for residents.
  • Aid residents in preparing daily schedules, including household chores, social activities, and other meetings and appointments.
  • Complete and ensure timelines of assigned documents and forms, such as daily progress reports, CILA shift reports, van log sheets, incident reports, MAR sheets, etc.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy living environment for residents by monitoring maintenance and assisting with daily bedroom maintenance.
  • Perform cleaning and housekeeping duties like vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, and mopping, and assist residents with daily chores.
  • Monitor residents for wellness and safety, ensuring they arrive on time to day programs or other appointments.
  • Schedule and assist residents in taking medications according to program guidelines.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and other relevant activities.
  • Respond to medical and behavioral emergencies following appropriate procedures.
  • Assist with personal grooming and appearance as necessary.
  • Report any medical/behavioral issues or emergencies immediately to supervisors.
  • Complete training on the Skills System and demonstrate ability to implement with all members.
  • Pass Safety Care training and demonstrate physical ability to perform stability holds and leg wraps.
  • Transport and accompany residents to appointments and other services, including work centers, as needed.
  • Check rooms upon arrival and regularly monitor residents for wellness and safety.
  • Secure doors and windows to ensure building safety, activating the alarm system nightly.
  • Plan and supervise recreational and social program activities.
  • Assist with menu planning and meal preparation as required.
  • Support and observe residents with special dietary needs.
  • Participate in all staff meetings and other required trainings.

Requirements

  • Two years of college or one year of college plus two years of full-time related work experience, or a high school diploma plus five years of full-time related work experience.
  • Completion of a 40-hour training program provided by BCBA staff based on the RBT List and passing the RBT Competency Assessment within 90 days of training.
  • Proof of Direct Service Professional (DSP) training and passing the TABE test before hire.
  • Pass a fitness for duty exam.
  • Complete Safety Care training.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive agency vehicles.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, hear, see, and communicate clearly.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to perform physical intervention techniques, including 1- or 2-person transfers, kneeling, blocking, moving away from flying objects, etc.
  • No physical limitations that would prevent performing ALL essential and physical duties of this job.

$23.54 per hour
