About the role
Nexus Children’s Hospital in The Woodlands provides specialized inpatient care for children and adolescents diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS). Our program focuses on behavioral management, medical stability, and skill development in a supportive clinical setting. Our interdisciplinary team works closely with patients and their families to promote safety, independence, and improved quality of life through individualized treatment plans and evidence-based care.
Responsibilities
- Implement behavior intervention plans under BCBA supervision
- Provide direct behavioral support during daily routines, therapy, meals, and transitions
- Collect and document behavioral data accurately
- Maintain structured environments, including supervision related to food security protocols
- Auxiliary with activities of daily living when behavioral support is required
- Monitor patient behavior and report changes to nursing or clinical staff
- Use approved de-escalation techniques to maintain safety
- Collaborate with nursing, therapy, dietary, and medical teams
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
- Follow Nexus policies, HIPAA standards, and safety procedures
- Support a therapeutic, structured environment that promotes patient progress
Qualifications
- Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification required
- De-escalation Training – required within 30 days of hire
- CPR / BLS Certification – required
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, or related field preferred
- Experience working with children with developmental or behavioral conditions preferred
- Hospital, inpatient, or residential experience strongly preferred
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary clinical team
