About the Role
As the Regional Volunteer Coordinator, you will oversee all aspects of the volunteer program in alignment with St. Croix Hospice policies, procedures, and CHAP requirements. This role supports department operations by organizing, implementing, and maintaining the volunteer program at the branch level. Frequent travel to Black River Falls, Marshfield, Stevens Point, River Falls, and Hudson is required.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the volunteer program complies with agency policies, Medicare, and NHPCO standards.
- Assist in interviewing, selecting, onboarding, and training new volunteers to build a strong team.
- Assess volunteer needs through discussions with departments, encourage staff to utilize volunteers, and develop new programs.
- Deliver volunteer services in accordance with the patient’s plan of care while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Manage and place volunteers in appropriate assignments, ensuring patient privacy.
- Maintain and update volunteer personnel files.
- Provide ongoing support, assessments, and recognition to volunteers to enhance retention and engagement.
- Report and assist in resolving grievances or complaints from patients and families.
- Educate individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services.
- Participate in budget preparation for program development and quality assessment performance improvement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- College degree or advanced degree in human services, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting.
- Experience in recruitment and onboarding is a plus.
- Ability to supervise, coordinate, and evaluate volunteer services.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, handle interruptions, and manage projects independently.
- Understanding of hospice philosophy.
- Ability to organize and develop volunteer hospice personnel for patient and organizational needs.
- Valid driver’s license, insured automobile in good working order, and willingness to travel up to 60% regionally.
- Ability to pass a DHS background study.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hospice and/or volunteer experience.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Pushing, pulling, and lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds.
Schedule
This is a Monday-Friday position.
