The Northeast Region is a cornerstone of SESI’s national portfolio, serving communities across Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. The region oversees approximately $26 million in annual revenue, 11 specialized education programs, 217 employees, and three Regional Directors. Following investments in leadership, systems, and operational excellence, the region is positioned for continued growth and innovation.

About the role

The Regional Vice President provides strategic leadership for the Northeast Region, overseeing a portfolio of approximately $26 million in annual revenue, 11 specialized education programs, and a team of two to three Regional Directors. This executive role balances operational excellence, educational leadership, financial stewardship, and strategic growth while developing high-performing leaders, strengthening district partnerships, and ensuring exceptional outcomes for students with specialized learning and behavioral needs.

This is a remote position for candidates residing in Connecticut, Massachusetts, or Rhode Island, with up to 40% regional travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Lead the overall strategy, performance, and long-term success of the Northeast Region.
    • Translate organizational priorities into regional execution and measurable outcomes.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation.
    • Partner with executive leadership to advance enterprise initiatives and organizational priorities.
  • Operational & Financial Leadership
    • Oversee approximately $26 million in annual regional revenue and ensure strong financial performance.
    • Lead budgeting, forecasting, enrollment planning, and resource allocation.
    • Monitor operational performance through data-informed decision making.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, contractual, and organizational requirements.
    • Continuously improve operational consistency and organizational effectiveness across all programs.
  • Leadership Development
    • Recruit, coach, and develop Regional Directors and future organizational leaders.
    • Build leadership capacity throughout the region.
    • Create succession plans and invest in professional growth opportunities.
    • Foster an engaged, mission-driven culture focused on collaboration and student success.
  • District & Community Partnerships
    • Serve as the senior executive representative for SESI throughout the Northeast Region.
    • Build trusted relationships with school district leaders and key stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with Business Development to identify opportunities for responsible growth.
    • Represent SESI with professionalism, credibility, and executive presence in the communities it serves.

Qualifications

Preferred experience includes leadership in one or more of the following environments:

  • Public school district leadership
  • Special education leadership
  • Alternative education programs
  • Charter management organizations
  • Behavioral health organizations
  • Multi-site educational organizations
  • Youth-serving nonprofit organizations
  • Other complex organizations operating within highly regulated environments

Candidates may have served in roles such as:

  • Assistant Superintendent
  • Deputy Superintendent
  • Chief Academic Officer
  • Chief Operating Officer
  • Executive Director
  • Regional Vice President
  • Vice President of Operations
  • Regional Superintendent overseeing multiple campuses or districts

Pay

Anticipated base salary: $170,000–$200,000 per year, with eligibility for an annual performance-based bonus of up to 30%.
