About the Role
Our client is a family-owned biotechnology and natural flavor innovation company specializing in fermentation, enzyme biotechnology, and precision bioprocessing. They develop sustainable, clean-label ingredients that enhance flavor, functionality, and product innovation across the food and beverage industry. This role is responsible for driving profitable growth by developing strategic account plans, expanding market presence, and managing customer relationships across key accounts, distributors, and target segments in the Midwest territory. The position is remote-based, ideally located in MN, WI, IL, MI, MO, or OH, with regular travel to customers throughout the region.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute regional sales and marketing strategies to achieve growth targets.
- Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities within assigned markets and accounts.
- Manage and grow relationships with distributors, direct customers, and strategic accounts.
- Conduct regular customer visits, sales calls, and business reviews to understand needs and present solutions.
- Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline and provide accurate forecasts, territory updates, and opportunity tracking.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, pricing dynamics, and customer requirements to inform strategy.
- Collaborate with marketing, R&D, operations, quality, and customer service to support product launches and account growth.
- Prepare proposals, support pricing discussions, and negotiate commercial terms in alignment with company guidelines.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings to strengthen market presence.
- Maintain CRM records, account plans, and activity reports with timely and accurate information.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Food Science, Biotechnology, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of successful B2B sales experience in ingredients or flavors.
- Proven experience managing a sales territory and growing customer relationships.
- Experience utilizing CRM systems, forecasting, and pipeline management tools.
- Ability to travel regularly throughout the assigned region.
Pay
Compensation varies by experience and role level:
- Account Manager level (typically under six years of relevant sales experience): $100,000–$145,000 base salary, plus sales incentive program and company car program.
- Senior Account Manager level (typically six or more years of relevant sales experience): $130,000–$170,000 base salary, plus sales incentive program and company car program.
