Regional Sales Manager - Chicago
About the role
To thrive as a Regional Sales Manager is to lead a team within a defined geographic region to achieve incremental sales targets and increase market penetration. This role helps drive the growth of our business by developing and leading a highly engaged sales team. Responsibility includes managing the assigned region’s revenue, market share, staffing, expenses & profitability. This role is accountable for supporting and accomplishing the corporate objectives by directing and coordinating the activities of the sales team’s values, strategies, and objectives, including the team’s development of strategic partnerships with store management personnel.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of 10–18 representatives covering a specific region to meet business targets.
- Deliver sales strategies, market penetration initiatives, and region-specific growth plans while building strong customer relationships.
- Analyze sales performance against defined metrics, forecast regional trends, and recommend strategic improvements.
- Hire, onboard, mentor, and retain top sales talent with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Manage budgeting, financial analysis, cost control, and CRM systems to drive data-informed decisions.
- Communicate effectively, build collaborative partnerships across teams, and manage travel and flexible shift requirements.
- Apply lean thinking, continuous improvement processes, and adhere to Behr’s Strategic Deployment Plan.
- Use Microsoft Office Suite and CRM database management tools.
Requirements
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a sales team of 10–18 representatives covering a specific region to meet business targets.
- Experience delivering sales strategies, market penetration initiatives, and region-specific growth plans while building strong customer relationships.
- Skilled in analyzing sales performance against defined metrics, forecasting regional trends, and recommending strategic improvements.
- Strong background in hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and retaining top sales talent with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience in the industry; coatings industry background preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, financial analysis, cost control, and CRM systems to drive data-informed decisions.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with a track record of building collaborative partnerships across teams.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% (including overnight), work flexible shifts including weekends/holidays, and meet company motor vehicle policy requirements.
- Commitment to lean thinking, continuous improvement processes, and adherence to Behr’s Strategic Deployment Plan.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and CRM database management.
