Regional Safety Specialist

About the role

This position reports directly to the Senior Safety & Risk Manager and is designed as a remote/hybrid role with a local presence in our Florence, Texas office. The Safety Specialist supports and coordinates ElectriCom’s safety and health programs while partnering with leadership to develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain comprehensive, up-to-date knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing safety and health within the utility construction industry.
  • Perform thorough and timely job site safety observations and audits, ensuring identified hazards and safety concerns are appropriately addressed and resolved.
  • Conduct and facilitate employee safety training on OSHA-required topics and other company safety initiatives.
  • Partner with the Senior Safety & Risk Manager to conduct incident and injury investigations, identify root causes, and effectively communicate findings and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with operational leadership regarding safety observations, trends, concerns, incidents, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate regularly with the Senior Safety & Risk Manager, operational leadership, and employees to support the ElectriCom safety program and promote a positive, proactive safety culture.
  • Demonstrate experience developing, implementing, and sustaining company-wide safety initiatives that strengthen employee engagement and foster a culture of safety.
  • Plan, develop, and execute work activities with guidance and direction from the Senior Safety & Risk Manager.
  • Work independently while exercising sound judgment and maintaining accountability for assigned responsibilities.
  • Effectively prioritize workload, travel schedules, and competing responsibilities to meet organizational needs.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in construction safety, with demonstrated experience in a safety leadership role.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required, including the ability to communicate safety expectations, conduct employee training, participate in incident investigations, and prepare written documentation in both languages.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and other applicable safety regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other standard business software applications.
  • OSHA 510 or OSHA 500 (Construction Industry Outreach Trainer) certification preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR Instructor certification preferred.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and report on safety metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information in group settings and training environments.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and contribute to a positive, safe, and high-quality work culture.
  • Ability to travel throughout Texas for up to 60% of scheduled workdays.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
