Regional Safety Manager
About the role
The Regional Safety Manager at USS United Site Services is responsible for leading and advancing safety, compliance, and risk management initiatives across assigned regions to reduce injuries, accidents, and regulatory exposure.
Responsibilities
- Assist in development of company-wide safety policies and programs focused on reducing hazards that will lead to reduced injuries and accidents.
- Work with Safety Director to create, revise, monitor, and administer safety procedures.
- Develop accident and injury prevention strategies.
- Develop regional plan(s) of action for implementing corrective actions to control or eliminate key loss sources, hazards, and implement corporate goals.
- Keep well informed on new regulations and develop initial recommendations for their implementation to the Safety team.
- Ensure compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations (49 CFR Parts 40, 382, 383, 390–399).
- Maintain HOS compliance.
- Manage CDL compliance and medical certifications.
- Ensure regional OSHA compliance while conducting site OSHA inspections.
- Engage in site safety inspections, coordinating corrections with the on-site leadership team.
- Conduct vehicle and facility inspections.
- Hold joint accountability with the assigned regional and branch management for all safety issues in the field.
- Lead safety incident investigation/root cause analysis process to ensure the quality, timeliness, and communication of the process.
- Work directly with branch management, claims adjusters, injury counselors, etc. to ensure complete claims management for Worker’s Compensation, Liability Insurance, and Auto Insurance.
- Oversee implementation of training and awareness programs to ensure that all employees understand their roles and expectations with regard to safety and compliance programs.
- Implement and coach on safety technology (dash cams, telematics).
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 Year / bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance, preferably within field operations or transportation environments.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Proficient in understanding and interpreting safety regulations, including DOT, OSHA, and EPA standards, with the ability to apply these in a field setting.
- Communication and Training: Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills, able to convey complex safety concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
- Problem Solving and Analysis: Strong analytical skills to assess safety risks, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions based on sound judgment and data-driven insights.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for documentation, training content creation, and reporting. Familiarity with incident tracking systems is a plus.
- Interpersonal Skills: Effective at building rapport and motivating team members to uphold safety standards; skilled in conflict resolution and providing constructive feedback.
- Independent Work Ethic: Self-motivated, able to operate autonomously, and manage responsibilities effectively with minimal supervision.
- Leadership, Influence & Accountability: Ability to lead through influence in a matrixed or multi-site environment with joint accountability alongside regional and branch leadership.
- Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis: Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, document findings, and implement corrective actions.
- Strategic Planning & Performance Management: Experience developing regional safety action plans aligned with corporate goals.
- Transportation & Fleet Compliance Expertise: Working knowledge of FMCSA regulations including 49 CFR Parts 40, 382, 383, and 390–399, including practical application in driver qualification (DQ) files, Hours of Service (HOS), CDL compliance, and medical certification management.
- Driver’s License: Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
- Bilingual English / Spanish helpful to ensure effective communication and support across teams.

Salary Range
$89,500.00 – $134,200.00 / year

At United Site Services, our salary ranges reflect the minimum and maximum base pay for the posted position applicable to all locations across the US. Within the posted salary range, individual pay is determined by the geographic location, job related skills, experience, education, and certifications. Our total compensation package includes base pay plus a comprehensive benefits program.
