Safety Manager

About the role

Ragnar Benson, a MasTec company, is hiring a Safety Manager to support their project in Syracuse, NY.

Responsibilities

• Implement and oversee safety, health, fire prevention, and first aid programs for the project.
• Conduct daily surveys and ensure compliance with OSHA and state safety standards.
• Identify safety defects, recommend cessation of work in unsafe areas, and conduct accident investigations.
• Maintain relationships with project supervisors, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
• Prepare and maintain safety-related records and reports.
• Lead safety meetings and orientations for new hires.
• Report on safety program progress to the Corporate Safety Director.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction safety or occupational safety.
• At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in railroad and/or transit industry.
• Minimum 5 years implementing safety programs for commuter and/or freight rail infrastructure projects.
• Certified Safety Professional or Construction Health and Safety Technician designation.
• Valid OSHA 30 card.
• Experience with FRA, NIOSH, OSHA, and Uniform Fire and Building Codes.
• Prior experience with fall protection programs for railroad bridge work.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven management and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

Schedule

The position may involve some travel.

Pay

$100,000 - $120,000/year, commensurate with experience.
