Regional Safety Director

Job Summary

The Regional Safety Director (RSD) has overall responsibility for oversight of all station safety operations in the assigned region. The RSD ensures that all functions are performed in accordance with company, client, and federal regulations and procedures, manages Regional Safety Managers, and assists other Regional Directors with critical, time‑sensitive issues or absences. The role includes examining, analyzing, evaluating, and supervising safety operations, preparing reports, and reviewing procedures and practices related to safety.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of Regional Safety Managers.
• Set priorities and audit schedule for Regional Safety Managers.
• Ensure Regional Safety Managers track compliance of their assigned stations to the IQSMS Program.
• Ensure all stations and facilities follow standard protocols and procedures consistently and in accordance with company, OSHA, FAA, EPA, airport, and client standards.
• Maintain expert knowledge of and ensure compliance with all applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations.
• Investigate safety violations and prepare reports specifying preventive and corrective actions.
• Identify irregular or unusual conditions that may create safety concerns.
• Maintain all safety‑related records required by local authorities, airline customers, FAA, and other government agencies.
• Prepare organization and staff for safety audits by third parties.
• Ensure all government, customer, airline, and local regulatory safety requirements are met.
• Plan, develop, and implement safety programs to test or improve safety procedures at each station and throughout the organization.

Minimum Requirements

• At least ten (10) years of professional experience providing airport/cargo safety services.
• Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA, FAA, and other applicable regulations and airport operations.
• Strong leadership qualities.
• Ability to interact cordially and communicate with company clients and regulatory personnel.
• Ability to work in a dynamic team environment.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

• Remain stationary 50 % of the time; occasional movement within the office to access file cabinets and equipment.
• Constantly operate a computer and standard office productivity equipment (calculator, copier, printer).
• Walk short distances; reach above and/or below shoulder level.
• Handle/grasp documents or office equipment; sit and/or stand for short or extended periods.
• Lift, carry, or move objects, files, and documents up to 10 lb.
• Work in an office environment using standard office equipment.
• Talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
