Regional Safety & Fleet Specialist supporting our Southwest Region located in Texas.
Responsibilities
- Lead and implement corporate safety and fleet policies and procedures for the region.
- Partner and maintain continuous communication with the regional management team and Senior Vice President regarding safety strategy.
- Prepare safety and/or fleet reporting on a regular basis for regional leadership.
- Lead and manage processes to minimize risk and maximize awareness of safe systems, equipment, and behaviors throughout the region.
- Provide safety and fleet recommendations to regional management for approval.
- Stay up to date and ensure compliance with all Federal (including OSHA and DOT), State, and local safety regulations.
- Manage and deliver training programs to meet all government, company, and client requirements, including obtaining feedback for behavior-based safety processes.
- Enforce company safety rules and regulations by conducting site audits.
- Conduct periodic job site visits to ensure compliance and jobsite safety.
- Communicate emergency action or safety plans to safety contacts.
- Conduct post-accident investigations and documentation.
- Ensure OSHA recordkeeping log and summary are maintained and posted; provide statistics for the marketing group as needed.
- Organize safety meetings and communicate with safety contacts.
- Attend monthly client safety meetings as the Volkert representative when requested.
- Serve as the safety subject matter expert for regional safety committees.
- Inspire others to demonstrate a passion for safety.
- Work closely with and receive general direction from the Corporate Fleet Director.
- Oversee the fleet management program, including vehicle acquisition and disposal within the region.
- Plan, organize, and manage fleet safety activities with assigned drivers; assist with fleet safety, telematics, and other driver safety training requirements.
- Handle vehicle maintenance and repair, accident investigation notification, and reporting.
- Perform safety reviews/audits associated with regional projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 3-5 years’ experience with safety regulations such as OSHA and DOT.
- Technical knowledge in HS&E, Worker’s Compensation, and Loss Prevention/Security.
- Knowledge of incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- 1 year of experience managing people or safety projects.
- 50% travel or overnight travel required.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening (Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana).
- Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
Preferred Qualifications
- Board of Certified Safety Professionals Certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health.
