About the role

We are currently searching for an experienced Regional Safety & Fleet Specialist to support our Southwest Region located in Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and implement corporate policies and procedures for a region
  • Partner and continuous communication with regional management team and Senior Vice President regarding safety strategy
  • Prepare safety and/or fleet reporting on a regular basis for regional leadership
  • Lead and manage the implementing processes the company will use to minimize risk and maximize the awareness of safe systems, equipment, and safe behaviors throughout the region
  • Provide safety and fleet recommendations to regional management for approval
  • Stay up to date and be knowledgeable with compliance for all Federal, (including OSHA and DOT) State and local safety regulations
  • Manage and deliver training programs to meet all government, company, and client requirements
  • Manage the enforcement of company safety rules and regulations by conducting site audits
  • Conduct periodic job site visits to ensure compliance and jobsite safety
  • Communicate to safety contacts with required emergency action or safety plans
  • Conduct post-accident investigation and documentation
  • Ensure OSHA recordkeeping log and summary are maintained and posted
  • Provide statistics for the marketing group as needed
  • Organize safety meetings and communicate with safety contacts
  • Attend monthly client safety meetings as Volkert representative as requested
  • Be the safety subject matter expert resource for region safety committees
  • Inspire others to possess and demonstrate a passion towards safety
  • Oversee fleet management program including vehicle acquisition, and vehicle disposal within the region
  • Plans, organizes, fleet safety activities with assigned drivers; assist assigned drivers with fleet safety, telematics and other driver safety training requirements
  • Perform safety reviews/audits associated with regional projects; and perform related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-5 years’ experience with safety regulations such as OSHA and DOT
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge in HS&E, Worker’s Compensation and Loss Prevention/Security
  • Possess knowledge of incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • 1 year of managing people or safety projects
  • 50% travel or overnight travel
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment
  • Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)

Qualifications

Board of Certified Safety Professionals Certification and Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety and Health are preferred.
