Regional Safety and Fleet Specialist

Regional role based in Texas supporting the Southwest Region.

About the role

Lead and implement corporate safety and fleet policies, partner with regional leadership, and serve as the subject-matter expert on all Federal (OSHA, DOT), State, and local safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Partner and communicate continuously with the regional management team and Senior Vice President regarding safety strategy.
• Prepare regular safety and fleet reporting for regional leadership.
• Lead the implementation of processes to minimize risk and maximize awareness of safe systems, equipment, and behaviors.
• Provide safety and fleet recommendations to regional management for approval.
• Stay current with compliance for all Federal, State, and local safety regulations.
• Manage and deliver training programs to meet government, company, and client requirements, including behavior-based safety feedback.
• Enforce company safety rules and regulations through site audits.
• Conduct periodic job site visits to ensure compliance and safety.
• Communicate emergency action or safety plans to safety contacts.
• Conduct post-accident investigations and documentation.
• Maintain and post OSHA recordkeeping logs and provide statistics to the marketing group as needed.
• Organize safety meetings and communicate with safety contacts.
• Attend monthly client safety meetings as the Volkert representative when requested.
• Serve as the safety subject-matter expert for regional safety committees.
• Inspire others to demonstrate a passion for safety.
• Oversee the fleet management program, including vehicle acquisition and disposal.
• Plan, organize, and support fleet safety activities with assigned drivers, including telematics, driver safety training, vehicle maintenance, and accident investigation.
• Perform safety reviews and audits associated with regional projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 3–5 years’ experience with safety regulations such as OSHA and DOT.
• Technical knowledge in HS&E, Worker’s Compensation, and Loss Prevention/Security.
• Knowledge of incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• 1 year of managing people or safety projects.
• 50% overnight travel.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening (federal guidelines apply).
• Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).

Preferred Qualifications

• Board of Certified Safety Professionals Certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health.
