About the role

Our client is a family-run property management company overseeing 20+ residential properties across Northern California and Salt Lake City, Utah. We are a close-knit organization that values accountability, integrity, and hands-on leadership across our regional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee property performance across an assigned portfolio, including occupancy, leasing, renewals, and delinquency management
  • Manage, coach, and develop on-site property managers and leasing staff; conduct regular site visits and performance reviews
  • Review and approve property budgets, monitor monthly financial reports, and identify variances or cost-saving opportunities
  • Ensure properties comply with all applicable federal, state, and local housing regulations
  • Partner with the maintenance team to ensure timely unit turns, preventive maintenance, and capital improvement planning
  • Handle escalated resident concerns, fair housing complaints, and lease enforcement issues
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training of on-site staff in collaboration with the director of people and VP of operations
  • Carry out regular property inspections to maintain curb appeal and physical asset standards
  • Prepare and present regional performance reports to senior leadership
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and core values across the region

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of property management experience, including supervisory or multi-site oversight experience
  • Working knowledge of Fair Housing laws and landlord-tenant regulations in California
  • Proven track record managing budgets, occupancy goals, and financial reporting
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills with experience managing on-site teams
  • Excellent communication, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with property management software (e.g., AppFolio, or similar)
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly between properties, including out-of-state travel when necessary
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CAM (Certified Apartment Manager) or similar industry certification a plus

Pay

Starting salary: $100,000 to 110,000 DOE
