Regional Professional Coding Supervisor - Revenue Cycle Mid Service * Days - 40hrs/wk

About the Role

The Professional Coding Supervisor is accountable for the management and coordination of system-wide coding functions. This position is responsible for identifying and solving coding-related issues, implementing performance improvement and other operational initiatives as needed. Ensures staff adherence to productivity, quality, and compliance standards and is supportive of departmental metrics and organizational goals and objectives.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in HIM or relevant health care field or 5+ years of relevant Coding experience
• Foundational Coding Credential: Current certification in good standing as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), AAPC; or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P), AHIMA
• Minimum of 1 year of lead or supervisory experience
• Epic experience
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet applications
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Optum and/or 3M encoder experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight and day-to-day management of the hospital professional coding
• Develop and implement methods to attain and maintain coding metrics
• Establish reporting tools/dashboards to monitor performance
• Communicate regulatory information to coding specialists and assist in compliant application of regulations
• Provide coding assistance in relation to recording documentation, data collections, data retrieval, and data interpretation
• Contribute to, coordinate, and/or implement processes to comply with coding, billing, regulatory, or data registry requirements relating to areas of responsibility
• Collaborate with other departments or programs
• Maintain effective communication regarding coding issues with physicians and other hospital department staff
• Participate in organizational team meetings and workshops
• Perform other duties as assigned, including:
  • Maintaining a current knowledge base of department processes, protocols, and procedures
  • Pursuing self-directed learning and continuing education opportunities
  • Participating on committees, task forces, and work groups as determined by management
  • Completing any other assigned projects
