Regional Procurement Buyer - Corporate (Las Vegas)
About the role
This Regional Procurement Buyer will be directly responsible for the sourcing process of various hospitality commodities for the Las Vegas Region in support of the Company’s strategic sourcing and procurement strategy. The successful candidate will be an integral member of a cross-functional purchasing team and the primary procurement partner with Property Stakeholders across the region, as well as interface with the vendor community and Caesars centralized corporate Strategic Sourcing teams. This position will also handle additional duties as needed per the region’s specific requirements.
Responsibilities
- Purchase and fulfill orders, including processing purchase orders and setting up regional bids as set forth by category strategies to create the most advantageous financial and operational impacts for the property, region, and company.
- Communicate with central Sourcing Category owners to fully understand their strategies and execute responsibilities accordingly.
- Source, investigate, assist with selection, and manage vendors through evaluating existing suppliers and developing new ones.
- Maintain positive company image and supplier relations through timely supplier contact and ensuring vendors consistently perform at a level exceeding property requirements.
- Abide by and enforce ethical practices in all dealings with vendors, ensuring all vendor relations are free of questionable business conduct.
- Develop and analyze price and supply data to inform best practices and buying decisions.
- Maintain consistent and accurate purchase and price data within purchasing systems, primarily Stratton Warren and Oracle.
- Use provided purchasing systems, processes, and tools to prepare bid lists, evaluate bids, document competitive bidding practices, process requisitions, place purchase orders, and process online pricing variances in conjunction with properties AP department.
- Follow up on back orders, expedite special delivery arrangements, and communicate expected delivery dates to departments.
- Become familiar with all local, state, regional, and national regulations relevant to the region, particularly those set forth by the Gaming Commission, and obtain licensing where required.
- Synthesize on-the-job experience and stakeholder feedback to recommend improvements to existing Sourcing Strategies to central team Category Owners or Regional Leads.
- Meet or exceed personal and role expectations by understanding and utilizing KPIs guiding job performance, such as maintaining high fill-rate ratios and limiting order delays.
- Keep impacted stakeholders and Sourcing team members advised of potential business or safety risks, including lead-times on critical materials or products.
- Troubleshoot and reconcile invoices with accounts payable where price or terms do not agree with the purchase order, as required by established processes.
- Seek out and develop relationships with suppliers that meet diversity requirements, including women (WBE), disadvantaged (DBE), and minority (MBE) suppliers to establish mutually beneficial business dealings and assist in achieving set-aside goals.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Regional Director or Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or other related degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in related procurement roles preferred.
- Strong background and knowledge of relevant Sourcing categories and/or commodities and standard purchasing procedures and practices preferred.
- Thorough understanding of purchasing, supply chain, and line of supply procedures and practices preferred.
- Working knowledge of and facility with purchasing and inventory systems (including Stratton Warren).
- Proficient with widely used business software and communication tools, including the Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel, Outlook, and Word).
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal/external customers and employees.
- Ability to communicate one-on-one and to groups to explain policies and procedures, and to persuade others to accept or adopt a specific opinion or action.
- Strong leadership, managerial, administrative, and organizational skills with the ability to present excellent customer service, partnering/team building, and communication skills.
- Solution-oriented problem solver with the ability to multi-task while championing and leading change management initiatives for products and services within the region and properties.
