About the role
We are seeking a Regional Philanthropy Officer to advance our mission by meeting ambitious fundraising goals and building meaningful partnerships with individual donors. This role is responsible for identifying, engaging, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding current and prospective donors across the Michigan region, with a strong emphasis on developing transformational relationships capable of six- and seven-figure philanthropic investments.
This hybrid position is a key member of the Development team, supporting efforts throughout the Michigan region and reporting to the Director of Development. The role plays a critical leadership function in shaping and executing the donor engagement strategy for the region.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive regional strategy to qualify, cultivate, and steward high-capacity donors, ensuring retention, recapturing, and long-term philanthropic partnership leading to sustained growth.
- Manage an assigned portfolio of major and principal-level donors and prospects with the intent to form deep, long-term, impact-driven relationships, including responsibility for securing complex, high-value solicitations and transformational gifts.
- Lead efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major individual donors with a specific focus on building a pipeline of donors capable of six- and seven-figure transformational philanthropy.
- Serve as a mentor and informal leader to less-experienced colleagues, providing expertise in donor retention and relationship management.
- Achieve a minimum annual fundraising goal, inclusive of renewable gifts and new, incremental revenue.
- Create individualized donor plans that drive informed, compelling, and complex solicitations.
- Conduct face-to-face donor visits, preparing customized engagement materials.
- Maintain accurate and timely donor information in regional/district databases and Salesforce following all donor interactions.
- Work with leadership and volunteers to identify and cultivate appropriate donors and partner with assigned Gift Planning staff to solicit giving prospects among identified donors.
- Update donor records in region and/or district database and Salesforce.com following donor contacts.
- Play an integral role in leading our women’s philanthropy giving circle, the Tiffany Circle Society.
- Participate in disaster relief fundraising projects as appropriate.
- Recruit, develop, and work with field staff and volunteers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- Minimum five years of sales and/or fundraising experience required.
- Proven experience in developing strategies for donor retention, growth, and recapture, and proven success with complex requests.
- A current valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of office systems: MS Office preferred and fundraising database systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce.com).
- Ability to work on a team within a collaborative environment and ensure the highest customer service orientation.
- Frequent travel within the Michigan region is required.

Pay
The position offers a base salary. You are eligible to participate in an annual incentive plan based on annual individual and organization performance.
Schedule
This is a hybrid position. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs, including sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle, and working under challenging conditions.
