About the Role

The Regional Medical Director is responsible for the coordination and oversight of all medical care and quality of services provided at the regional level. This position serves as a member of the Administrative Management Staff and collaborates with the CEO and Executive Leadership on the development of services, program plans, delivery sites, and hours of operation. They ensure the proper functioning of day-to-day operations of the centers, in coordination with local medical directors and center staff, to provide consistent quality of care to patients. This role may also include the delivery of medical services to patients.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership for activities related to the delivery of medical care and clinical services, including cost management, utilization review, and quality assurance.
• Collaborates in the development and periodic review of written clinical policies, guidelines, and protocols for clinic functioning and clinician responsibilities.
• Works closely with the insurance plan to meet defined clinical goals.
• Leads the development and implementation of disease management programs and supervises risk coding.
• Participates in the recruitment and selection process for medical provider staff.
• Plans, assigns, and directs work; assesses and appraises provider performance.
• Collaborates with the management team to ensure organizational viability through oversight of provider productivity, annual budget development, and evaluation of clinic goals and budgets.
• Develops and presents clinic performance reports to Joint Venture leadership.
• Assumes responsibility for the quality of medical services by monitoring care appropriateness and reviewing patient satisfaction surveys and clinical complaints.
• Provides supervision of continuing professional education, in-service training, and orientation of new medical staff.
• Provides key input to the development of care delivery policies and procedures.
• Oversees documentation and care planning.
• Performs periodic review of practice management functions.
• Ensures high standards of medical care by reviewing patient satisfaction survey results and clinical complaints.
• Maintains OSHA, ACHA, emergency preparedness, infection control, and regulatory compliance for the clinics.
• Provides professional oversight for advanced practice nurses (ARNP) and/or physician assistants (PAs).
• Handles physician behavior and impairment issues.
• Analyzes, manages, and develops improvement plans for adverse events and patient complaints/issues arising from medical care.
• May deliver direct patient care within the clinic scope of practice.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the executive team.
