About the Role
The Regional Marketing Manager executes Marketing strategies and channel plans that support Divisional Retail business priorities. The incumbent serves as a communications and channel expert, developing, managing, and executing regional, customer-directed campaigns to increase brand awareness and market share. This role leads Publix sponsorship and special event marketing activities to drive sales, build brand equity, and engagement. The Regional Marketing Manager is the primary management contact for external suppliers, agencies, and sponsors for Retail Marketing and advocates for innovation and continuous quality improvement.
Responsibilities
- Develop custom and leverage corporate strategic and communications plans for local marketing campaigns, including Grand Openings, to reach target customers with relevant and timely messaging.
- Prospect, analyze, evaluate, negotiate, and secure local sponsorships through legal agreements aligned with Publix Marketing strategic priorities (e.g., food and wine festivals, sporting events, art/music festivals, runs/races).
- Hire and manage third-party suppliers and activation agencies, assigning tasks to the Corporate Marketing Communications Coordinator to carry out sponsorship strategies.
- Serve as the Marketing single point of contact (SPOC) for Retail business partners, managing all Marketing support requests.
- Manage allocated budgets for assigned campaigns with fiscal responsibility.
- Assist in the annual Marketing planning process, communicating resources needed to support Retail business partners during Playbook planning.
- Act as the primary management contact for external partners regarding sponsorship and special event marketing.
- Provide regional input for divisional communication planning to increase brand awareness and market share.
- Advocate for marketing innovation and quality improvement.
- Manage special divisional marketing-related assignments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Mass Communications, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
- Four years of combined Marketing Communications experience in developing marketing strategy briefs, media planning, and managing project budgets.
- Minimum of 1 year of sponsorship and activation work experience.
- Knowledge of marketing strategies, principles, processes, tools, techniques, and best practices.
- Knowledge of consumer behaviors and trends, the grocery industry, and Publix’s competitors.
- Knowledge of the effectiveness, strengths, limitations, and basic relative costs of various media channels, including multicultural channels (e.g., POP, direct mail, print, digital, social, broadcast).
- Skilled in analyzing media and market research data, financial data, and consumer research reporting.
- Budget management skills.
- Ability to prospect, analyze, negotiate, and execute sponsorships and events, including activations.
- Superior leadership and communications skills to all levels of support and management.
- Ability to effectively manage relationships with suppliers, activation agencies, and sponsors.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects through effective time management and work well under pressure.
- Knowledge of Retail and other Publix Support Departments’ operations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends (Saturday and Sunday), or at home as needed.
- Willingness to travel with overnight stays up to one week or longer.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Business Administration or equivalent experience.
- Six years of combined Marketing Communications experience, including 2 years of Field Marketing experience in a large company/retailer with budget management responsibilities.
- Intermediate knowledge of SharePoint.
- Advanced knowledge of the grocery industry and competitors.
- In-depth knowledge of Retail and other Publix Support Departments’ operations.
