Regional Manager of Business Applications
About the role
Under the direction of the Vice President of Information Technology, this position oversees the Business Applications Team. Assembles project teams, assigns individual responsibilities, develops project schedules, and is responsible for determining and acquiring resources needed. Directs the planning, implementation, and execution of business-specific technology plans. Ensures internal customer needs analysis aligns with business initiatives. Works with functional groups within Information Technology and internal business clients to develop short and long-term system plans.
Collaboration includes application training for all related applications servicing business departments, customer workflow analysis for improved processes, system support, and optimization. The incumbent possesses highly specialized knowledge in multiple system technologies, plans, manages, and controls the development and maintenance of operating systems, documents, and monitors system software. Develops and establishes departmental standards and procedures, assigns team staff, and coordinates their efforts for both internal and external support. Evaluates current and projected software and coordinates the installation of new systems.
Responsibilities
- Develops tactical and strategic business plans for functional and architectural areas of Information Services, including operational and capital budgets, and resource utilization planning and allocation.
- Monitors the area’s operational and capital budgets to ensure expenditures are within budget standards and guidelines.
- Manages functional team(s) and provides leadership in the support, development, and growth of UMH-Regional Health Network Information Technology applications, architecture, infrastructure, services, and processes.
- Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members.
- Participates in overall business, technical, and architectural strategic planning with other I.T. Leadership.
- Maintains relationships with vendors and ensures proper contractual agreements are followed.
- Develops and maintains documentation systems and processes for all applications, systems, hardware, and processes.
- Provides leadership and proactive planning for architectural components, including ongoing development of architectural strategy and tactical requirements.
- Assists other I.T. Leadership in reviewing and developing projects to ensure area involvement is represented.
- Promotes analysis and review of processes to develop better and more cost-effective operations.
- Pursues professional and educational advancement through training, industry organizations, and networking opportunities.
- Acts as a facilitator, diplomat, mediator, and negotiator in coordinating I.T. strategies, operations, processes, acquisitions, and development projects.
- Participates in cost savings and operational improvement activities.
- Establishes employee goals and objectives that support overall Information Services goals and promotes staff development.
- Develops procedures and documentation to ensure area effectiveness.
- Maintains a current knowledge base of department processes, protocols, and procedures, and participates in committees, task forces, or work groups as determined by management.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of recent experience in Information Technology.
- Two years in a professional and information systems leadership position, preferably in the health care industry.
- Experience with the methodology and process of application and/or technical architectural life-cycles.
- Hands-on experience implementing at least one major, enterprise-wide information system.
- Experience in the development and use of project management methodologies, processes, and tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, IT, or related field; OR Bachelor's Degree in any field and minimum 2 years of relevant experience in IT.
