About the Role

This position provides leadership, direction, and oversight to specific manufacturing and/or packaging locations for Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory (FSQR). The role ensures facilities deliver required standards of quality and product safety per corporate and site policies, procedures, and practices. It drives continuous improvement at the respective sites and aligns programs with Corporate FSQR. The position partners with operations, specifically the facilities’ leadership team, to maintain accountability, innovation, and product safety.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of FSQR Managers, including annual reviews and career progression.
  • Support the development and management of behaviors of site-level FSQR personnel.
  • Oversee one of the corporate FSQR-owned systems (e.g., Lists, lab management and safety, management of change, RedZone).
  • Support the customer and consumer complaint process to ensure timely and thorough investigations with root cause and action items identified.
  • Act as the communication liaison between the site and Corporate FSQR Manager during FSQR incident investigations and risk management.
  • Partner with site-level FSQR and operations teams to develop corrections and corrective actions following GFSI and third-party audits (e.g., customer, NSF, FDA).
  • Verify effectiveness checks following corrections and corrective actions.
  • Support FSQR objectives for facilities to identify trends and drive year-over-year improvement.
  • Ensure adequate implementation of corporate FSQR policies at assigned sites.
  • Review and attend facility management reviews, proactively identifying gaps and trends to improve FSQR systems.
  • Lead recruiting efforts with the Talent Acquisition Manager to hire and retain FSQR employees.
  • Review facilities’ food and/or animal food safety plans to ensure appropriate risk evaluation based on prior performance.
  • Review outputs of mock recall and crisis management drills to determine effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or other related science field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing others.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience working in a food, feed, or USP manufacturing FSQR laboratory.
  • Strong knowledge of International Safety Protocol (ISP), Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), FDA FSMA, and HACCP Programs.
  • Knowledge of USP regulations (as applicable).
  • PCQI-certification in Human and/or Animal Feed preferred.
  • Highly self-motivated, energetic, and able to work independently and as a team contributor.
  • Ability to understand and comply with company policies and applicable local/state/federal regulations.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage conflict in stressful environments.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced and challenging site environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information to all organizational levels.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
