About the role
The Office of State Lands and Investments, Wyoming State Forestry Division, seeks a Regional Fire Manager in Douglas, Wyoming. This position is open until filled.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements fire management plans and strategies.
- Leads and coordinates fire suppression activities on state lands.
- Collaborates with other agencies, organizations and stakeholders to coordinate fire management activities.
- Conducts fire danger assessments and makes recommendations for fire management strategies.
- Manages fuels program by coordinating with district staff, counties, and partner agencies.
- Creates development plans for staff.
- Coordinates pre-season meetings with local, state, and federal partners.
- Coordinates suppression forces when fires are beyond the mutual aid period and assists fire management and district staff with agency representation (AREP) roles.
Requirements
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Possess and maintain national certification in accordance with NWCG standards, PMS 310-1, within one (1) year of the date of hire.
Qualifications
- Prioritize: Fireline Qualifications - Task Force Leader, Incident Commander Type 3 (preferred), Incident Commander Type 4.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (typically in Fire Science or Forestry).
- Experience: 0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Wildland Fire Management or Forestry) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Wildland Fire Suppression Module Leader or equivalent.
- Experience: 4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Wildland Fire Management or Forestry) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Wildland Fire Suppression Module Leader or equivalent.
- Education & Experience Substitution: Bachelor’s Degree and additional coursework.
- Education & Experience Substitution: Associate's Degree and additional coursework.
- Education & Experience Substitution: Bachelor's Degree and additional coursework.
- Education & Experience Substitution: Master's Degree and additional coursework.
- Education & Experience Substitution: Doctorate Degree and additional coursework.
- Education & Experience Substitution: None of the Above.
Skills
- Knowledge of State of Wyoming, Office of State Lands and Investments procedures and guidelines.
- Knowledge of wildland fire management and forestry management methods, operation practices and techniques.
