About the role

USALCO, LLC is a major producer with an extensive manufacturing network and a leading provider of aluminum-based component products used in water treatment, pulp and paper manufacturing, the making of catalysts for oil refining, the housing market, and other sectors. The right individual will have a can-do attitude, the ability to be part of a team while operating independently, and consistently performs to very high standards.

The Dispatcher schedules and dispatches drivers and equipment as needed to meet customer needs, coordinates and sets up daily dispatch routes for multiple USALCO plant locations, monitors electronic logging systems of drivers, and makes corrections when needed. The role involves coordinating breakdowns of trucks and trailers with USALCO mechanics and outside repair vendors, ensuring product availability and correct loading, and monitoring driver compliance with hour-of-service regulations, qualification requirements, and pre/post-trip inspection reports.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company policies and objectives in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Continuously improve the driver-to-dispatch and customer service experience.
  • Coordinate and set up daily dispatch routes for all drivers in multiple plants.
  • Modify/change dispatching during shifts to accommodate changing customer deliveries.
  • Exceed Customer Service Interface responsibilities:
    • Assist with resolution of customer delivery issues and complaints in a timely manner.
    • Maintain accurate customer information in USALCO databases and software programs.
    • Process return product from customers back into the plant.
  • Coach drivers on the safe loading and unloading of trailers.
  • Ensure knowledge and compliance with Department of Transportation Regulations directly affecting drivers.
  • Understand chemical-related products that USALCO manufactures.
  • Monitor electronic logging and assist with troubleshooting errors by drivers.
  • Help maintain Driver Qualification records.
  • Help maintain trailer and truck maintenance and repairs.
  • Contact roadside repair for service on equipment.
  • Monitor and report on Driver performance.
  • Perform equipment checks on trailers in the yard.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of business goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of prior experience dispatching in a 24/7 operation; chemical/HAZMAT field dispatching preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with PaperSave, Great Plains, and Electronic Logging Devices preferred.
  • Organizational and planning skills to effectively complete assignments.
  • Dependable, flexible, and able to respond on short notice to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

  • AA degree in Business Administration; four-year degree in Business Administration, Logistics Management, or Supply Chain preferred.

Essential Functions

  • Routinely sits 80 to 90% of shift.
  • Flexible with work hours to meet the demands of transportation.
  • 30% travel required to support Gahanna, Mentor, and Ashtabula USALCO plant locations.
