Major Responsibilities
- Manage, plan, and direct the regional municipal operations;
- Supervise workflow of assigned staff;
- Evaluate work products, methods, and procedures;
- Aid Director of Operations in recruitment and hiring of staff to support the workload;
- Ensure inspections are performed in a timely manner, and in accordance with established procedures;
- Cookordination inspection activities with other departments, divisions, and outside agencies to resolve issues and enhance customer service;
- Conduct meetings with project stakeholders, property owners, developers, and designers to explain codes, policies, and procedures and to mediate/resolve conflicts and respond to questions concerning field inspection activities;
- Provide oversight for complex projects during the inspection and review process if needed and monitor the tracking and progress of projects;
- Analyze and make recommendations to policies, methods, and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of inspection operations;
- Ensure uniform application and implementation of ordinances, codes, standards, and regulations through inspection activities;
- Respond to inquiries and concerns from engineers, architects, contractors, staff, and the public regarding field inspection issues;
- Interpret codes, standards, laws, and regulations; resolves building code issues during the inspection process in the field;
- Conduct research and analysis of complex technical issues; evaluate alternatives and provide recommendations;
- Monitor performance measures and prepare related reports;
- Oversight of all IAS evaluations and reports pertaining to inspection personnel;
- Participate in the administration of building permit system, records management, and technology improvements to enhance operations and customer service;
- Stay current with new development or changes in codes, standards, materials, and technology;
- Perform other duties as assigned and required by Director of Operations – Central Region.
Develop Specific Growth Strategies
- Generate leads, growth, and market awareness, directly leading to revenue growth in the region.
Education And Experience
- Education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field;
- Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in building inspections;
- Two (2) years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity pertaining to inspections and building department/divisions.
Additional Requirements
- Include Certification as a Combination Residential and Commercial Inspector or Certified Building Official by the International Code Council (ICC) is required (Master Code Professional preferred/encouraged);
- Excellent customer service/problem solving skills and ability to work well with internal staff and team;
- Periodic travel will be required as needed and attendance at related trade shows will be necessary;
- After-hours work will be required as needed for Council Meetings, Client Workshops, Travel, etc.

- Consistent and regular communication will be expected at a high level with all staff and clients.
