About the Role

The Regional Director of Access and Assessment provides clinical and operational leadership for the PrairieCare team responsible for initial access screenings and full clinical assessments. The role covers assessment and access across our inpatient psychiatric hospital and six outpatient locations around the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the Access & Assessment Department and cultivate the department as one integrated team able to complete standardized access screens and triage across entry points.
  • Oversee the initial triage of all incoming patient contacts, including online web form inquiries, phone calls, family referrals, provider referrals, hospital referrals, and emergency department referrals.
  • Work in tight collaboration with the Admissions Director and partner with medical staff, nursing, site leadership, service line leadership, and business development to maintain timely access and effective patient flow.
  • Lead the full clinical assessment workflow to determine the appropriate level of care for each candidate—clinic, IOP, PHP, residential, inpatient, or referral to another resource.
  • Provide leadership in quality management issues, and develop and implement department policies and procedures.
  • Ensure department practices comply with EMTALA principles, hospital, payer, and DHS/MHCP requirements and licensing expectations and regulatory standards.
  • Partner with the Admissions Director to ensure seamless handoff of patients to operational intake, insurance verification, registration, prior authorization (if needed), scheduling, and admission.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, psychiatric nursing, or a related therapeutic field (required).
  • Licensed, or expectation of immediate application for licensure after hire, in the State of Minnesota as an LICSW, LMFT, LPCC, LP, APRN, or equivalent clinical license (required).
  • Five (5) years’ experience in behavioral healthcare; psychiatric intake, access, crisis triage, admissions, or clinical assessment (preferred).
  • Three (3) years’ progressive leadership experience in behavioral health, access, assessment, admissions, inpatient, PHP, IOP, RTC, or outpatient services (preferred).
  • Experience leading interdisciplinary workflows involving clinicians, psychiatrists, nursing, registration, utilization review, financial counseling, and site operations (required).
  • Experience with behavioral health level-of-care determination, medical necessity review, safety assessment, suicide risk assessment, and crisis triage (required).

Pay

The compensation range for this role is $130,000–$160,000 annually, based on education and experience. A relocation allowance is offered.

Schedule

In-office position, Monday through Friday, in Brooklyn Park.
