Regional Business Banking Team Lead
About the role
The Business Banking team actively calls on businesses with annual revenue between $1MM and $20MM. The team includes relationship managers, client managers, treasury management officers, and others who provide a suite of products and services tailored to these companies. The objective is to earn the title of trusted advisor and help these companies grow and prosper in our community.
As the Business Banking Regional Team Lead, you will manage the sales production, profitability, and annual growth of financial products and services by providing commercial lending and banking services to Small and Medium Business accounts (companies with annual revenue up to $20MM).
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to Relationship Officers to pursue development of new and existing customer accounts.
- Lead a sales team in one or more markets, consisting of Team Leads, Relationship Managers, Client Managers, and local administrative support personnel.
- Provide strategic direction and management of budget, FTE, recruitment, portfolio growth, and items related to the Market P&L.
- Sustain profitability and annual growth of sales of financial products and services through designated staff.
- Plan and execute regional sales meetings.
- Develop revenue, volume, and market share objectives for assigned staff and market area.
- Ensure the team monitors and manages existing credit relationships, including note renewals, financial statement and collateral valuation reviews, credit and cash flow analysis, delinquency reporting, exception documentation, and covenant monitoring. Compile reports to monitor asset and credit quality and compliance with policy/regulation.
- Participate in community and professional activities to enhance the bank’s image and expand your personal network for new business and banker recruits.
- Collaborate with market peers to drive overarching Regional Strategy.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 7+ years of Business Banking experience with 3+ years of leadership and sales management experience.
- 3+ years of Commercial credit experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strategic thought leadership and tactical implementation and problem-solving skills.
- Proven sales management abilities.
- Ability to build and grow sales opportunities within a market through prospecting, account management, and business development activities.
- Knowledge of Business and Small Business Banking products, systems, policies/procedures, and regulations.
- Solid Credit and Underwriting acumen.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop staff.
- Ability to build relationships and inspire trust across the organization.
- Ability to present and convey information that influences and calls individuals to action.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA.
- 3+ years of strategic leadership and development of sales organizations.
- Solid executive presence.
- Ability to influence upper management.

- Experience managing individuals across locations.
Pay
Compensation Range: $176,796 - $260,029. The posted range represents UMB’s good faith and reasonable estimate based on its budget and what it expects to be the starting pay for this role, though actual compensation may vary by geographic location, experience level, and other job-related factors.
