This Is What You Will Do

The Regional Account Manager (RAM) position is within our Hematology and Nephrology Franchise, focusing on aHUS. The RAM will be assigned a sales territory centered around Academic Centers, Community Hospital Systems, Physician Clinics, and Infusion Centers primarily serving Nephrology and Hematology.

  • Consistently achieve or exceed sales objectives in the assigned territory.
  • Create and maintain strategically targeted account-specific business plans reflecting an in-depth understanding of local market forces impacting product sales.
  • Maintain and deepen clinical, technical, and scientific knowledge.
  • Collaborate closely with internal cross-functional stakeholders, including PNH Regional Account Manager(s), TLL(s), SAL(s), MSL(s), FRM(s), PEM(s), Market Access, Diagnostics, and enterprise partners.
  • Handle customer questions and objections consistently with product indications and sales training methodology, including ability to compliantly triage inquiries to appropriate partners.
  • Educate on the clinical approach to specific disease states, leading to a successful differential diagnosis and appropriate testing of focus patient populations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to educate on the proper use of products to clinicians in hospital and infusion center environments.
  • Lead the implementation of the patient-centric partnership model, involving physicians, their staff, patients, clinics, and hospitals.
  • Effectively utilize CRM tools to manage time, resources, and workload, including accurately tracking sales activities and submitting required reports.
  • Execute local promotional activities and programs for therapeutic areas.
  • Provide a high level of product expertise and customer service to all accounts.
  • Proactively interact with Alexion management to refine product and market initiatives.
  • Conduct work in alignment with and adherence to all Alexion’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and Alexion policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (e.g., Biotech or Medical Device) or 5 years’ experience in a medical setting.
  • Proven, documented track record for delivering consistent, 'Top-tier' sales results in institutions and hospital systems.
  • Strong clinical acumen and account-based selling, analytical, and strategic skills to successfully develop accounts.
  • Demonstrated ability to seek out and qualify leads and profile new accounts.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to live in the geographic territory or within 50 miles of its border.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel within the territory on a regular basis, including frequent overnight and weekend travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced or master’s degree.
  • 5 years pharmaceutical sales or equivalent experience (e.g., Biotech or Medical Device).
  • Sales experience in the orphan or ultra-orphan area.
  • Nephrology, and/or Oncology experience.

Pay

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $152,636 - $228,954. Our positions offer eligibility for various incentives—opportunities to receive short-term incentive bonuses, equity-based awards for salaried roles, and commissions for sales roles. Benefits offered include qualified retirement programs, paid time off (i.e., vacation, holiday, and leaves), as well as health, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
