Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate standard knowledge of preventative maintenance, replacement of parts/components, and more difficult repairs as they pertain to specialized trailer maintenance, air brake systems, and FHWA Inspections
- Troubleshoot and repair specialized trailer equipment; work independently and seek assistance as needed
- Participate in Original Equipment Manufacturing training for OE repairs
- Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures
- Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers at all times
- Accurately perform standard level repairs to company and manufacturer's specifications, complete work orders, and demonstrate understanding of company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines
- Perform standard preventive maintenance tasks to include, but not limited to, tire replacements/flat repairs, brake adjustments/services/replacements, electrical diagnostics, basic structural repairs on trailer chassis, sub-frames, etc.
- Understand and demonstrate the standard use of a cutting torch and welding equipment; perform minor repairs on chassis, frames, brackets, etc.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: 18 years of age with 1-2 years of experience in Semi-Trailer maintenance and repair and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience, and/or military equivalent.
- Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences:
- Willingness to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed
- EPA section 608 certification Tech 2
- At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes
- Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 1-2 years of experience in Semi-Trailer maintenance and repair and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience, and/or military equivalent.
- Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
- Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to read documents and/or information in English
- Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of ABS systems
- Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to use a logical approach to derive a specific conclusion from general ideas
- Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively
- Knowledge of approaches and techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving operations or process problems
- Possess standard welding, cutting, and brazing skills
