About the role
The Start-up Technician is the primary field service technician dedicated to new system start-up work. They are a senior member of the service operations and new systems field team responsible for developing and implementing new systems commissioning activities. They drive service department best practices and maximize the use of service business tools.
Responsibilities
- Primary interface and liaison with the project management team for field commissioning related topics.
- Developing commissioning program best practices/templates and providing training/mentoring to apprentices within the department.
- Monitoring dependencies across multiple inter-related projects, developing & driving key milestones within the Project Management and Service teams.
- Generating and reporting daily site reports and work order information to the project management and service operations team.
- Distributing start-up reporting to the leadership/key stakeholders for scope/work reviews, costs analysis, and contract reviews.
- Providing full commissioning staffing for the field service and technical support functions within the organization.
- Aiding project management team members in achieving operational goals and objectives.
- Addressing problems that may be difficult and complex due to inter-department demands.
Requirements
- 10+ years’ experience in a field service and project start-up role with industrial refrigeration customers.
- A technical education or commensurate experience in industrial/technical support of refrigeration equipment.
- Advanced education within the RETA certification 1 through 4 and IR 1-19/ CR 1-20 modules.
- Advanced OEM training for equipment start-up and service.
- Able to provide field support to a multi-location service and project team efficiently and accurately.
- Experience driving process improvements within multi location and remote teams.
- Able to multi-task and work under pressure.
- Self-motivated and highly organized.
- Must be able to work independently and create start-up processes to drive meeting timelines.
- Openness to travel extensively (90%) within the United States for extended periods of time. Includes driving and flying with overnight hotel stays.
- Computer literacy including knowledge of Field Software, MS Office, and ability to quickly learn new software.
Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
