Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and operate heating and cooling systems within the plant.
- Lays out reference points for installation of structural and functional components.
- Industrial Boiler operation and troubleshooting.
- Starts system, observes operation, reads gauges and instruments, and adjusts mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control level of fluid, pressure, and temperature in system.
- Dismantles malfunctioning systems and tests components.
- Replaces or adjusts defective or worn parts to repair systems.
- Verifies readings in cases where conditions appear to be abnormal and records possible reasons for fluctuations or actions taken.
- Performs daily rounds and logs readings into books and hand-held devices.
- Enters information into databases or software programs.
- Wears self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) if required.
- Electrical trouble shooting / control circuits equipment operation / control set up / panel operating.
Desired Qualification
- RETA certifications in CARO, CIRO, and CRST (Certified Refrigeration Service Technician) a plus.
- Tig welding
- Mig welding
- Gas torch / Gas welding experience
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Prior experience in Refrigeration systems or equivalent degree from a technical school
- or equivalent combination of education and experience
Language Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Abilities
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Be able to complete the RETA Operator 1 Certification within two years.
- Desired RETA certifications in CARO, CIRO, and CRST (Certified Refrigeration Service Technician) a plus.
