Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and operate heating and cooling systems within the plant.
  • Lays out reference points for installation of structural and functional components.
  • Industrial Boiler operation and troubleshooting.
  • Starts system, observes operation, reads gauges and instruments, and adjusts mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control level of fluid, pressure, and temperature in system.
  • Dismantles malfunctioning systems and tests components.
  • Replaces or adjusts defective or worn parts to repair systems.
  • Verifies readings in cases where conditions appear to be abnormal and records possible reasons for fluctuations or actions taken.
  • Performs daily rounds and logs readings into books and hand-held devices.
  • Enters information into databases or software programs.
  • Wears self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) if required.
  • Electrical trouble shooting / control circuits equipment operation / control set up / panel operating.

Desired Qualification

  • RETA certifications in CARO, CIRO, and CRST (Certified Refrigeration Service Technician) a plus.
  • Tig welding
  • Mig welding
  • Gas torch / Gas welding experience

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Prior experience in Refrigeration systems or equivalent degree from a technical school
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Abilities

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Be able to complete the RETA Operator 1 Certification within two years.
  • Desired RETA certifications in CARO, CIRO, and CRST (Certified Refrigeration Service Technician) a plus.

  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequent exposure to high, precarious places.
  • Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Frequent exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Frequent exposure to outside weather conditions.
  • Frequent exposure to extreme cold.
  • Frequent exposure to extreme heat.
  • Frequent exposure to risk of electrical shock.
  • Frequent exposure to noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
