About the role
The Referral Team is dedicated to creating an exceptional experience for patients, clients, and referring veterinarians by ensuring referred patients are received efficiently, historical medical information is complete, and communication is seamless throughout the referral process.
Responsibilities
- Support inpatient and ICU patient care, including medication administration, procedural assistance, vital monitoring, and patient assessments
- Aid in advanced procedures and therapies, including chest tube placement and management, extracorporeal therapies, high-flow oxygen therapy, and mechanical ventilation
- Receive referred patients and support the intake process
- Obtain patient history, vital signs, and assist with clinical nursing support
- Carry out doctor orders and help prepare patients for continued specialty or emergency care
- Serve as a communication touch point for clients, referring veterinarians, and DoveLewis care teams
- Carefully coordinate and collect medical records from outside clinics and clients to ensure complete patient histories are available
- Facilitate smooth handoffs between referring veterinarians and DoveLewis medical teams
- Support referral documentation, scheduling coordination, and follow-up communication
- Help provide a seamless, elevated experience for clients and referring veterinary partners
Qualifications
- Current Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) license in Oregon required (or transferable credential such as LVT/RVT eligible for Oregon licensure)
- Interest in pursuing or currently holding a VTS certification is encouraged as part of professional growth and development, but is not required
- Experience in emergency, specialty, referral, or critical care medicine preferred
- Strong interest in client communication, referral coordination, and continuity of care
- AA or BA/BS degree from an accredited veterinary technician program preferred
