JOB SUMMARY
The Referral & Quality Coordinator performs clerical and support functions for the medical clinic.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Clock in and out using time clock system
- Cover front desk and answer phones
- Coordinate the scheduling and tracking of ordered referrals for specialty, diagnostic and therapeutic services
- Work closely with medical staff in procuring referral appointments for patients
- Sending and receiving necessary information to/from outside vendors and clinics
- Prepare patient correspondence
- Utilize scheduling and patient database software to provide services
- Ability to track and run reports for Quality measures
- Initiate communication with patients that need preventive care, missed screenings, immunizations, etc. (Gaps in Care)
- Evaluate effectiveness of healthcare needs and follow-up within the referral process and/or quality measure collection
- Absorb and distribute incoming mail
- Absorb and distribute outgoing mail
- Absorb and distribute incoming faxes
- Absorb and distribute outgoing faxes
- Absorb and distribute incoming emails
- Absorb and distribute outgoing emails
- Absorb and distribute incoming phone calls
- Absorb and distribute outgoing phone calls
- Absorb and distribute incoming voicemails
- Absorb and distribute outgoing voicemails
- Absorb and distribute incoming packages
- Absorb and distribute outgoing packages
- Assist with Prior Authorizations
- Assist with scheduling patients as needed and for Annual Wellness Visits
- Participate in performance improvement activities
- Other duties deemed necessary by supervisor
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Excellent typing, computer, transcription and organizational skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of Quality measures
- Knowledge of Prior Authorizations
- Knowledge and experience with personal computer software technology
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Ability to prioritize own work and work independently
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience in healthcare setting
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. There may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, and driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
