Referral Clerk Sleep Medicine
About the role
Referral Clerk Sleep Medicine is responsible for the completion of set processes and protocols. Works cooperatively with all members of the care team to support the vision and mission of the organization, deliver excellent customer service. Supports the teams in meeting state compliance goals.
Responsibilities
- Manage administrative intake of members
- Work with hospitals, clinics, facilities and the clinical team to manage requests for services from members and/or providers
- Manage the referral process, processing incoming and outgoing referrals and prior authorizations, including intake, notification and census roles
- Handle resolution/inquiries from members and/or providers
- Ability to update patient's charts
- Answer incoming and outgoing calls
- Enter all data into the electronic health record according to company policies and procedures
- Ability to support front office staff as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma / GED
- 1+ years of computer proficiency experience in Microsoft Office and demonstrates solid computer skills to include typing and talking at the same time and navigating through multiple screens
- 1 + years of customer service experience or healthcare experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within the health care Industry and with health care insurance
- Experience working in a hospital, physician's office or medical clinic setting
- A clerical or administrative support background
- Experience working in a call center
- Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes
- Knowledge of referral processing procedures

- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret information from others

Pay and Schedule
- This is a 40-hour week, 8-hour shift schedule, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 am to 5:30 pm PST.
- The schedule will be determined by the manager upon hire.
